Overviews

The group’s research is multi-disciplinary and brings together knowledge and strong expertise in mathematics and computer science. The research has fundamental as well as applied aspects and the synergy between theory and application is the key to our approach. Applied research and links to industrial and commercial groups where we can directly address problems of relevance to industry have an important place. The focus of the research is in modelling and use of intelligent methods in a variety of problems in physical and life sciences, computing, engineering, medicine, business, finance and learning. Work is currently carried out in the following research areas: listed below:

bulletMathematical Modelling
Our research is concerned with the development of mathematical models of phenomena in the physical world.. Read more...
bulletBioInformatics and Biomodelling
Research is undertaken in mathematical and statistical aspects of bioinformatics and application of data mining, statistical mechanics and artificial intelligence techniques... Read more...
bulletDatabases and Data Mining
Research interests are in all aspects of developing and managing large quantities of data in a secure manner within an enterprise context... Read more...
bulletSystem Architecture and Security
Interdisciplinary research involving digital forensics, security and embedded computer systems... Read more...
bulletIntelligent Systems
Research interests range from the very nature of Internet information retrieval, to intelligent interfaces...Read more...
bulletComplex Systems
